General Description
You’re looking at a nice 1966 Lincoln Continental Convertible, one
of the most favored cars of the 60s!  This lovely car runs and drives
beautifully, and is in great mechanical condition.  All of the power
options work, including the power windows, 6-way power seats,
and power antenna.  The power top functions perfectly, and has a
real glass back window.  The factory-installed a/c blows cold.  The
V-8 engine runs well – and just so you don’t have to ask, there’s no
smoke, no hesitation, no sluggishness in this engine and exhaust
system!  I bought the car in great shape, and have kept it in great
shape; all current maintenance has been done, the tires have tons of
miles left on them, and the ride is nice.  I would drive this car
anywhere without hesitation; it’s a nicely restored car that needs
nothing but a new owner!

The car underwent a partial restoration in the 1990s, and restoration
was completed during 2001-02.  During the second restoration, the
paint and trim were redone and they match the original colors shown
on the body tag.  See below for a more detailed history of the car.

History
This beautiful 1966 Lincoln Continental Convertible has a well-
documented history.  The car rolled out of the plant in Wixom,
Michigan, on November 17, 1965, and headed to Cincinnati.
The original owner had the car for 20 years; the second owner
had it for 6 years; the third owner began the restoration
process in 1992 with some basic work and then had the car
professionally appraised in 1994 by a restoration shop that
specializes in Lincolns.  At that time,
the car appraised for
$17,500
; that appraisal comes with the car.

The next owner purchased the car in 1995, and picked up
where the third owner left off.  He took the car back to the
Lincoln restorer and did a lot of work to make the car even
nicer, all of which is detailed in receipts that are with the car.
From 1995-2000, he gradually did a thorough mechanical
restoration on the frame, spending some $31,149 in total.  This
included new (rebuilt) transmission work, although I have no
records or receipts of exactly what was done to the engine (I
presume a major overhaul, but am not certain).

Then, in 2001, he undertook a 7-month professional on-frame
restoration that included some mechanical work but focused on
cosmetics: new correct color leather seats; some chrome
replaced, some re-polished; new top; new correct color paint
with chrome off; undercoat.  Cost was $25,058.  In his notes,
he says that when he test drove the car in August 2001 it was
“almost perfect”.  After this, he continued to keep the car
garaged and performed normal maintenance.

The car passed to a collector in California.  He added a fully-
integrated Kenwood sound system with hidden 6-CD changer
(no worries, the original AM transistor radio is included),
rewired all 6 windows, installed a new a/c pump and lines, put
on new tires, and added a new 4-barrel Carter AFB carburetor.
I purchased it in 2006.  I wanted a Lincoln convertible to drive
during nice weather while I completed restoration work on
another car, and this car easily satisfied everything I was
looking for.  This Lincoln Continental Convertible was in
excellent condition when I bought it, so I’ve had little to do
other than enjoy and maintain it.  I’ve kept it in a climate-
controlled garage, and have continued regular maintenance –
the car runs and drives perfectly.  I haven’t put many miles on
it, but have driven it regularly in good weather.  It hasn’t been
out in snow or ice.

As far as I know, the car has been entered in only one car
show – a local event where it won the “President’s Choice”
trophy.  This isn’t a #1 car.  It is a nice #2 every day driver
that will show well at local events.  I would drive it anywhere
with confidence, whether locally or across the country.

NOTE: These photos were taken at different times in different light
conditions.  Sometimes the car looks almost white; it really is light blue!
