This nice, solid 1940 Cadillac Series 60 Special Sedan with
dual side mounts is a dream project. The motor was rebuilt in
the early 1990s, and the drive train is in good shape. The
previous owners often took the car on trips of 250+ miles
without a hitch. The upholstery was redone in 2004 to the
current silver velour, and is quite comfortable. This car has a
grille guard, radio and a heater, all of which were options in
1940. The body is solid and extremely straight. The hood
ornament and rear emblem are present, as is the driver’s side
mirror. The front and rear bumpers are there, plus lenses on
the back taillights (and a spare tail light lens in the trunk).
There’s some surface rust, and two rust spots where the back
fender attaches to the body. A few parts, like bumper guards
and wheel covers, are in the trunk or in the rear floorboard.
There’s some water staining around the back window. With a
new paint job this car would be an excellent 20-footer, or you
could go all the way and restore it. I put the car into storage a
couple of years ago; when I did, it ran and drove well.
